The Agricultural Application Engineering (AgAppE) Laboratory (or Larbi Lab) is headquartered at the University of California Kearney Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Parlier, CA. Our mission is to provide regional leadership in the area of agricultural engineering extension and applied research with a focus on spray application engineering. Our primary goal is to promote best practices for safe, economical, and environmentally sound pesticide spray application for specialty crops including almond, pistachio, walnut, stone fruit, citrus, and grapes. Other specific objectives are developing and evaluating spray application techniques & technologies and developing and deploying spray application decision support tools.
Position Summary:
Under close supervision, the Staff Research Associate I will support the implementation of a developmental research project. The candidate will conduct agricultural application engineering laboratory and field research involving mechanical, fluid flow, and electrical/electronic components and prototyping. Specific tasks involve computer aided designing and simulation, Arduino microcontroller (or similar) electronics, wiring, coding, fabrication, assembling, prototype testing, setting up and calibrating equipment for field trials, collecting data, and conducting basic data analysis.
This position is a limited term appointment that is 45% variable.
Two positions are available.
Pay Scale: $25.75/hour to $28.07/hour
